Tooth Gem
FAQ
Who is a good candidate for a tooth gem?
The tooth you would like a gem applied to must be real enamel and in healthy and clean condition. The adhesive only cures to real enamel. I cannot apply gems to dentures, crowns, caps, or retainers.
The application of the gem includes using a lip retractor and bright lights which some may find overstimulating. If you need an accommodation during this time please let me know prior to your appointment.
Are tooth gems permanent?
Tooth gems are semi permanent. They can fall off naturally over time or be removed by a dentist. Some gems fall off with the adhesive still attached to them, others fall off and leave the adhesive behind. All bonding agents used in the process of application are completely colorless, and can be removed at your next routine cleaning.
Can you remove my old tooth gems?
No. It is illegal in the state of Washington for anybody but a licensed dentist to remove your tooth gems. Due to this I can only apply gems to the teeth. Getting your gems removed by a dentist is quick and easy, and usually takes less than 5 minutes per tooth.
I saw a design online that I like, can you recreate it?
Yes. Please include a photo of your vision in a direct message to me. Designs that require specialty shapes and colors require a deposit that scales based on the design.
Do the gems feel like anything after they’re applied?
Most people report experiencing being able to feel the gems with their lips for a few days, sometimes up to a week. Usually after that your mind and body have adjusted to it being there. You will feel it with your tongue or finger if you deliberately touch them.
